According to a report by Debanjali Sengupta on the AL Circle website, Nemak has received the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative's Performance Standard V3 (2022) for its plants in Poland, Slovakia and Brazil.
Various automotive components are manufactured at the three plants Nemak Slovakia s.r.o. near Ladomerská Vieska, Slovakia; Nemak Poland Sp. z o.o. in Bielsko-Biała, Poland; and Nemak Alumínio do Brazil Ltda. in Betim, Mato Grosso, Brazil. While the Slovakian plant produces engine blocks, engine housings and housings for electric motors, the Polish plant produces die-cast parts, specialised in powertrain components and vehicle structural parts. The Brazilian plant, on the other hand, manufactures engine blocks, cylinder heads and gearboxes.
Certification in the three pillars of sustainability
Nemak received the certification for the plants in Poland and Slovakia after an audit by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH, as well as in the Brazilian plant by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd, both independent certification companies. The certification according to ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) includes 11 principles and 62 criteria in the three pillars of sustainability: environment, welfare and corporate governance. The objective is to solve urgent sustainability issues in the aluminium supply chain.

The ASI Performance Standard certification emphasises Nemaks commitment to environmental protection, human rights, and ethical principles to ensure that every step contributes to a more sustainable future.

Since July 2022, Nemak is an ASI member in the field of production and transformation.
