When METAV 2012, the international trade fair for manufacturing technology and automation, appears in Düsseldorf next February 28 to March 3, the latest production innovations and systems will again be on display for a broad-based metalworking trade public. The exhibition will as usual be accompanied by an educational programme.

"The preparations for METAV 2012 have been in full swing for several months now," says Martin Göbel, the project manager. Speaking for the event's organizer, the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association), he explains that the METAV team has lined up a programme covering many and varied topics in an effort to make the show a highlight of the 2012 event schedule for metalworking industry professionals.

The VDW, together with various partners, is preparing special METAV events on such subjects as medical technology, composite machining, sustainability in the production process, and recruitment advertising. The organizer also has improved service support, and has made it possible for exhibitors to register online.

"The METAV's attractions are already in vigorous demand before the official deadline for registrations," reports Göbel. This, he says, reflects the event's importance as a trade platform for the metalworking sector in the northern half of Germany and the adjoining European countries.

Many exhibitors who, because of the economic situation, opted out of participating in METAV 2010, are returning in 2012-particularly manufacturers of high-precision tools. Lothar Horn, chairman of the High-Precision Tool Association in the VDMA, confirms this: "We shall be exhibiting at the METAV 2012," he says, "since its scheduling at the beginning of March offers a chance of showcasing the latest developments at an early stage of the year."

Exhibitors at METAV 2012 will be displaying machine tools, production systems, high-precision tools, automation equipment, computer technology, industrial electronics, and production technology accessories. In 2010, some 45,000 trade visitors from 26 countries attended METAV.
