Ukrainian finished steel output to drop slightly in February
According to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in February this year Ukraine crude steel production will rise by 1.1% compared to December 2011 to 2.790 million tonnes.
According to Metallurgprom forecast, pig iron output in Ukraine will total 2.350 million tonnes in February down by 1.01% compared to December while production of rolled steel is expected to be 2.5 million tonnes down by 1.96% compared to December.
In 2011, Ukraine registered 3% growth in its finished steel product output to 31.677 million tonnes, a 6% increase in its crude steel output to 34.689 million tonnes and a 6% rise in its pig iron production to 28.879 million tonnes all compared to 2010.
In December alone, Ukraine produced 2.550 million tonnes of finished steel products down by 3.1%MoM, 2.759 million tonnes of crude steel down by 4.1%MoM and 2.374 million tonnes of pig iron down by 1.9%MoM.
In January this year, Ukraine expects to produce 2.510 million tonnes of finished steel products, 2.820 million tonnes of crude steel and 2.370 million tonnes of pig iron.
