USA -Apex Aluminum expanding operations

Reading time: min

Business is growing for Apex Aluminum Die Casting in Piqua to the point where they are needing to expand operations and add new jobs to keep up.

“We’re going to need at least 40 (new employees),” Pat Zimmerman, president, said. The positions include operators on the floor as well as some skilled spots, quality positions, supervistory positions, and so on.

“Our Operations Manager, Sara Ryan … selected (Associates Staffing) to do the staffing,” Zimmerman said. Zimmerman later added, “It’s a big step for us adding them and again, finding folks is getting harder to do.”

Apex had originally been doing the hiring themselves, but they were not getting enough people through the door.

“That’s been a a big change for us,” Zimmerman said about Associates Staffing. “It’s working out well so far.”

They currently boast approximately 120 employees.

Apex currently operates 24 hours a day, five days a week. They will be expanding their operations to 24 hours a day, seven days a week on Jan. 1, 2016. Doing so will allow them to keep up with production demands.

When asked what makes Apex unique, Zimmerman explained that they are basically a one-stop shop. They build their own tools in-house with Atlantis Precision. Zimmerman also stated that Atlantis Maximum Precision is their finishing house in Troy.

“Vertical integration is an important feature we got,” Zimmerman said.

According to their website, Apex Aluminum Die Casting’s services include:

• Mold design and manufacturing
