KUKA: presents solutions at GIFA 2015 – from single components to finished cell concepts

Combined expertise

Reading time: min

At this year’s GIFA in Dusseldorf, KUKA was combining the strengths of both KUKA Roboter and KUKA Industries under the slogan “The Power of Fusion”. The robot and system builder showed its innovative automation solutions for foundry settings over an area of more than 700 square meters in Hall 16, Booth A57. The focus was on new robot types as well as on complete solutions for permanent mold and die-casting automation.

From robot components to periphery concepts, KUKA was demonstrating its comprehensive expertise in foundry technology at the world’s most important foundry technology trade fair in June in Dusseldorf. During this fair, the companies KUKA Roboter and KUKA Industries (a merger of KUKA Systems’ Technology Solutions division and the Reis Group) were appearing together for the first time. KUKA customers thus profit from KUKA’s global expertise in automation components and solutions.

New robot types expand the product portfolio

Whether its extreme heat, the handling of molten metal or extremely heavy components, the large amounts of dust and work environments with high humidity: the environment in foundries represents an enormous strain on both humans and machines and requires maximum robustness. Beyond this, there are high demands in terms of product quality, reproducibility, flexibility in production, quantities and cycle times. By using modern robot systems in various stages of the production line, foundries can prepare themselves for the future and ensure their future global competitiveness. KUKA will also be exhibiting its expanded robot portfolio at GIFA. Including two world premieres. Whether it’s about special protection ratings and extreme precision or new requirements for the ratio of payload to reach, KUKA offers the very robot you need.

KUKA Industries combines automation knowledge with process knowledge

As a globally active system integrator and general contractor, KUKA Industries ensures that every complete system comes from a single source and, as a result, that all system and automation components are perfectly integrated. Only in this way is it possible to provide the customer with a guarantee for demanding cycle times. Besides automation technology and control systems, KUKA Industries offers customers in the foundry industry the benefit of compression molding and deburring tools that have been tested over decades throughout the world by Reis as well as systems and components that all interlock via the central controller.

Thanks to its unified appearance at GIFA, KUKA provided clear evidence that the bundling of expertise and experience in foundry environments has far-reaching advantages for the customer: Standardized hardware and software solutions can be selected as modules from the overall portfolio in order to offer foundry customers the solutions that match their needs.
