GER - Alu-Manufacturer Build Die-Cast Facility

Aluminum producer Trimet, recorded an increasing demand of castings for chassis parts in the automotive industry. Therefore, a site was built in Harzgerode/Germany in cooperation  with BMW to significantly up the capacity of die cast foundry.

Two casting sites, two processing lines and an X-ray inspection will be installed to serve the future demand for the 5.5-pound heavy front and rear casting elements for the new BMW 5 Series. The expansion is scheduled for completion early next year.

Purchase of Additional Casting Machines Planned
In the past decade, Trimet has invested 160 million Euros in the automotive field Harzgerode Sömmerda sites. The current expansion will come out to an additional 13 million Euros. "The current investment will advance our production technology further, strengthen the location and create new jobs," says Trimet Board Thomas Reuther. It will not be the last.

Thus, the purchase of another die-casting machine planned for both locations are planned. The adjustment as a system supplier of complex castings proves itself to automotive manufacturers as a sustainable strategy; Reuther added.
