German foundries estimate the end of the year stable. Turnover of 14 billion euro is expected, informed Bundesverband der Deutschen Gießerei-Industrie (BDG) on 22.October in Düsseldorf. BDG represents 610 foundries with 87.000 workers.
BDG is cautious by forecast for 2009 due to financial crisis and economic slow-down. Also growing energy and material costs, as well as higher wage demand from IG Metall, slow down the mood, says BDG president Hans-Dieter Honsel.
On the one hand Honsel expects slowing orders from automotive and construction industry and shipbuilding. On the other hand large-scale plant-manufacturers and shipbuilders, as well as wind power industry, has filled the order books for the future.
"Foundries will continue the expansion in the medium and long term", Honsel expressed optimistically.
