14th Foundry Congress - Event organized by the Brazilian Foundry Association

Traditionally held by ABIFA every two years, CONAF – the Foundry Congress - and FENAF – the Latin-American Foundry Fair – gather, on the same venue, the novelties in the area of equipment, processes and products which are intended for the foundries, in addition to providing an exchange of know-how and integration among all the professionals of the sector.

In 2009, the organization of the 14th CONAF is being made by ABIFA (the Brazilian Foundry Association) in partnership with ABAL (The Brazilian Association of Aluminum) and ABM (the Brazilian Association of Metallurgy and Materials).


The official schedule of the event has 44 technical works and 4 special speeches:

  • The Foundry Industry;
  • Quality in the Foundry;
  • Cleaner Production (P + L) in the Foundry Industry;
  • ABNT – CB 59 / CE Foundry Waste (Disposed Sands) – Norms for Reuse and Disposal;

AGREEMENT ABIFA / APEX-BRAZIL

Project Export Promotion Product Castings - Foundry Brazil is a Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Financial and ABIFA - Brazilian Foundry Association and APEX-Brazil (Brazilian Agency for Export Promotion and Investment) that acts together with the management ABIFA and financial support to the project.

Representing the Brazilian smelters, the project aims to position the industry as a major world exporter of castings through strategic actions to promote trade. It also provides casting all the support in export activities.This is the 3rd agreement with APEX-Brazil, with 51 participating companies, linked to the foundry industry. During The 13th Latin American Foundry, Foundry Project Brazil will be present with three actions:

- Buyer Project (Business Roundtable): The Buyer Project is the meeting organized in Brazil from Brazilian business offerors applicants and foreign buyers of products and services, aiming to provide an environment conducive to doing business for participating companies. The Business Roundtable will take place in a reserved place within the FENAF. Estimated - the participation of 45 Brazilian companies with the industry of smelting and 15 international buyers from the United States, Europe and Latin America.  The expectation of generating business is about six to eight million dollars.

Image Project: In order to promote the image of national products and services from abroad, the Image Project is the visit of foreign opinion leaders (journalists and experts) to Brazil to learn more about the industry and Brazilian companies. The idea is that opinion leaders return to their countries contributing to the dissemination of information and in building and consolidating the image of Brazil as an exporter of products and services to the foundry market. During FENAF be invited two journalists from magazines and the publication of stories talking about FENAF, Project Foundry Brazil and the Brazilian market. Space Foundry Brazil: The Space Foundry Brazil is a stand attached to the complex product and service booth ABIFA where the goal is to spread to companies related to the foundry industry products and services the project offers. In this space, companies have found information such as: membership of the Project Foundry Brazil, the work of the APEX - Brazil, as export market (casting), Project Tradings, Special Program for encouraging exports, among others.
