US - 4 Hurt in Explosion at Aluminum Casting Foundry in Ohio

An explosion at the Ross Aluminum Castings LLC foundry in Sidney, OH early this month left four people with injuries, local news organizations reported.

Crews responded to the Oak Avenue facility after the explosion was reported at 10:11 a.m. and discovered upon arrival that a large pressurized air tank was involved in the blast, according to a Sidney Daily News article. No fire ignited during the incident, the newspaper said, but the building did sustain some damage. 

Part of the aluminum casting foundry’s roof collapsed due to the blast, coverage by Television news station WDTN said. 

Two people received treatment for injuries at the plant, while two others were transported to an area hospital, according to news broadcaster WKEF. 

Ross Aluminum manufactures aerospace castings, performance racing castings, diesel engine castings, and power generation castings, according to information on the firm’s website.
