The 75th World Foundry Congress took place in October 2020 at the WenDe International Convention Center in Deyang, Sichuan, and was organized by the World Foundry Organization (WFO) and FICMES.
One good reason for choosing Deyang is its significance as the birthplace of China's foundry culture. This historical significance was honored in the opening ceremony with an artistic performance and in a special exhibition at the trade show.
1,500 experts from around the world
Under the motto “The Evolving Foundry Industry”, around 1,500 experts from all over the world gathered, including experienced and well-traveled engineers, association officials and many young people. The opening was led by Jose Javier Gonzalez, WFO Secretary General, followed by speeches by Ding Wenjiang and Mayor Liu Guangqiang. The next WFO President Rafał Dańko also gave a speech at the plenary session.
The congress focused on foundry technology, application techniques and talent development, accompanied by 9 keynote speeches and 18 technical forums. A total of 238 experts from 26 countries presented their findings and research. The English-language conference was characterized by lively discussions and question and answer sessions between specialists after the individual lectures.
At the same time, the International Foundry Exhibition 2024 showcased innovative technologies and products from over 120 companies in an exhibition area of 8,000 m². In addition, outstanding work was exhibited and awarded prizes.
All in all, it was a highly professional event with a wide range of opportunities for exchanging specialist information and networking during the coffee breaks, at the cocktail reception or the gala dinner.
The event was rounded off by a variety of cultural encounters and an interesting program of work visits.
In two years, the 76th WFC is to take place in Istanbul in September 2026 under the leadership of the WFO and Tüdöksad in Istanbul.
