9th MATERIALICA Design + Technology Award 2011

On the occasion of MATERIALICA, 14th international trade fair for material applications, surfaces and product engineering, MunichExpo Veranstaltungs GmbH will grant the MATRIALICA Design + Technology Award for the ninth time. Designers, material manufacturers, developers, engineers and producers in the categories material application, surface technology and technology have been invited to participate. The main focal point of this award is on aerospace, automotive, engineering, medical and energy management as well as sports and technical consumer goods. All awarded contributions will be presented at the MATERIALICA Design Show which will take place from October 18 to 21, 2011.


"Today, design and technology go hand in hand. Latest innovations such as the new iPad give impressive proof of this development. "The MATERIALICA Design + Technology Award provides a platform for important developments from the fields of materials and material applications and demonstrates how innovative materials, technical precision and high demands on design regarding industrial and consumer goods can be combined successfully" states Robert Metzger, Managing Director at MunichExpo Veranstaltungs GmbH and organizer of the award.


The products and concepts may be submitted in the following categories: Material Category, Product Category, Surface & Technology Category and CO2 Efficiency Category.


The special award for students comes with a prize money of EUR 1,500
Students studying design, engineering sciences, mechanical engineering, natural sciences or other fields that incorporate topics such as material development, material applications or process engineering are invited to participate in this Student Award. The award seeks to promote and support young designers in their study phase. Students may submit their inventions in all mentioned categories. The Student Award comes with a prize money of EUR 1,500.

Best-of-Student: System for efficient fighting of oil spills, University Darmstadt, Germany

The Best Of Winners of the Award 2011 will be announced during the trade fair MATERIALICA (October 18 through 20, 2011) at a festive award ceremony. All awarded products will be presented to the public in a special exhibition architecture during the entire trade fair.
