Abifa bets on 25% growth of the foundry sector in 2010

The foundry sector, which is part of metallurgy, in 2009 had a 30% drop in production volume, following the pace of the slowed economy. For 2010, the forecasts made by Abifa (Brazilian Foundry Association) are encouraging and the market should begin growing again. "A survey conducted at the end of the year shows expected growth of 25% compared with 2009. Santa Catarina should follow or even exceed this average due to the expansion observed by local companies in the beginning of this year," comments Devanir Brichesi, President of Abifa.

According to the President, fairs like Metalurgia, which best represents the foundry’s interests in Santa Catarina, are essential for the visibility of companies in the domestic and international scene. "Metalurgia is an efficient alternative to generate new business for companies in the segment. Those who participate end up having more visibility in the market and the trend is that they are among the preferred suppliers by companies in the sector," states Brichesi.

For him Santa Catarina occupies a privileged position in the foundry market, compared to other states. "Just consider the presence of Tupy, one of the largest companies of the segment in the world, as well as others no less important in domestic and international markets," concludes Brichesi.
