AFS - Metalcasting Documentary Airs On PBS

Schaumburg, Ill (USA) - The documentary Spotlight On: Metalcasting has been released, and is airing on PBS stations nationally this spring. Sponsored by the American Foundry Society (AFS) and PBS, the documentary educates the PBS audience on the metalcasting process and the positive ways metal castings affect society. It also serves as a presentation and education tool at tradeshows and career fairs, and for federal and state government officials and regulators.

According to Trivue Entertainment, Watchung, N.J., who helped with the show's development, the short program could air up to 1,500 times and reach at least 3 million viewers nationwide per broadcast.

Trivue estimates that approximately 40% of the airings will be during prime time.

"AFS is committed to informing the public on the many ways metal castings are produced and critical in everyday life," said Jerry Call, AFS executive vice president. "This documentary will be a great avenue to deliver the message."

The documentary premiered on May 14 with an AFS membership webinar. The 5-minute documentary was filmed at various metalcasting facilities across the U.S.
