Barbara Kolloquium 2024 in Aalen

The Barbara Kolloquium 2024 at Hochschule Aalen is set to feature a series of expert presentations on key topics in foundry technology and energy efficiency. The event will begin at 15:00 with opening remarks from Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Harald Riegel, the rector of Hochschule Aalen, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lothar H. Kallien.

At 15:15, the technical presentations will commence, covering topics such as:

  • Energy and Resource Efficiency in Medium-Sized Hand Molding Foundries, presented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dierk Hartmann from Hochschule Kempten.
  • Isothermal Melting Using Electric Immersion Heating Elements, presented by B. Eng. Denis Babojelic from Lethiguel GmbH.
  • Current Challenges for Medium-Sized Foundries in Germany, presented by Dipl.-Ing. Andreas Weidler from Eisenmann Druckguss.
  • Innovative Measurement Technology for Gigacasting Systems, presented by Dipl.-Ing. Uwe Gauermann from Electronics GmbH.

The event will also include a special session by Prof. Dr. Dr. Friedrich Klein marking 50 years of the Barbara Celebration at Hochschule Aalen, with students presenting their master’s thesis topics in short talks:

  • B. Eng. Matthias Middelmann on sand cores in die casting.
  • B. Eng. Annike Bossert on casting around wooden structures in die casting.
  • M. Sc. Valentin Ziegler on the impact of alloying elements on the CO2 footprint of aluminum alloys.

The day will conclude with the famous networking at the  Gießerabend (Foundry Evening) at 19:00 in the university's foundry lab,
