The structural change from combustion engines to e-mobility as well as the growing expansion of the Chinese automotive industry that has identified Latin America as a manufacturing and expanding market, lead to an investment race in the region. The winners of this development are especially long-established manufacturing locations like Mexico, one of Latin America’s automobile production countries. Mexico looks back on decades of experience in vehicle production and also benefits from its proximity to the “lithium triangle” in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. This region is suspected to hold some two thirds of the world’s lithium deposits that are of central importance for e-vehicle battery production. With its large domestic market and geographic proximity to the USA, the country is an ideal production location for many international automakers and upstream suppliers.
Mexico City as an ideal location for GIFA Mexico
“Mexico City, host to the well-established foundry trade fair FUNDIEXPO, is therefore the ideal location for GIFA Mexico,” explains Malte Seifert, Director Metals, Energy & Autonomous Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf. “This is a key market for German and international companies, this is where the industry’s innovation drivers are. We are delighted to be able to contribute with our longstanding expertise as a global partner of the industry to further boost the international flair of the event and facilitate market access for European companies.”
The Mexican format of GIFA, the world-leading trade fair for the foundry industry in Düsseldorf since 1956, is designed to give especially German and European companies the opportunity to showcase their top technologies and international operational excellence on the Latin American market and forge business contacts.
