Exploring the die-casting topic of the day

Attended by 60 delegates from all over Europe, this live event explored the latest trend for ultra large die-castings. These can simplify production, speed up processes and lead to significant cost reductions in body in white manufacturing.

The case for ultra large solutions

Automotive OEMs traditionally ship-in stamped parts and assemble numerous components to create the body in white or battery casing for electric vehicles (EVs). New large die-casting solutions can cast the whole concept as one piece, cutting up to 300 robots from each production line, taking up 30% less space and delivering more reliable quality with greater accuracy. Together, this results in lower costs per vehicle.

Considering all the implications

At the Live Event, the implications of this innovative new approach for the entire production process were discussed. From the alloy, the developments in the die-casting cell to the secondary operations and how these large parts can be handled, every aspect was explored.

Contributions from Bühler die-casting experts led by Managing Director, Cornel Mendler, were accompanied by perspectives from technology partners. Specialist know-how was shared and lively panel discussions were fueled by questions from the industry audience.

Another highlight

One of the highlights was to again welcome customers to the Die Casting Technology Center in Uzwil. The Center features working cells showcasing the latest technology for machines, peripherals, digital control and integration solutions. Available for training and application trials, it is a cornerstone for innovation.

The value of collaboration

Bühler Die Casting was pleased to bring customers together again, after such a long time. Product Manager Michael Cinelli said: “It was fantastic to see customers and partners here once more, swapping ideas and networking. For us, success is all about collaboration.”
