Cornelia Juds opened the event with a comprehensive presentation on the features of the Canias ERP system, focusing on its core components, the industries it serves, and the specific functionalities designed for the foundry industry. She emphasized that Canias is a member of the BDG, is regularly present at industry trade fairs such as EUROGUSS, CastForce, and Druckgusstag, where they frequently deliver presentations. Additionally, Canias is actively involved in research and development projects within the foundry sector. The key elements of the ERP system include Business Process Management, Smart Factory, Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, and R&D.
Which ERP system suits my needs?
The keynote speaker, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Norbert Gronau from the University of Potsdam (Chair of Business Informatics, Processes, and Systems), provided an entertaining overview of the current state of ERP providers in the DACH region. His presentation covered new players entering the market, those leaving, and potential future developments. He also shared his "Top 10" quotes from his consulting career during ERP implementations, emphasizing the need for companies to be open to change. Additionally, ERP providers must not make empty promises and should have country-specific solutions already integrated, such as VAT filings in Germany.
Calculate your CO2 footprint
Following the keynote, participants discussed the requirements for an ERP system and explored current trends and needs. Artificial Intelligence was a key focus, with discussions on what AI means for individuals and how it is technically implemented.
For the foundry industry, the topics of sustainability and CO2 footprint analysis were of particular interest. Timur Kücük demonstrated how these aspects are integrated into the Canias ERP system and how deeply the data can be analyzed.
The USP of the Canias ERP system
One of the key unique selling points of the Canias ERP system is its ability to analyze CO2 footprints—a feature not offered by other ERP systems. This is particularly important, as clients are highly interested in identifying potential savings due to regulatory requirements and the significant energy consumption involved.
