The $469,000 furnace, delivered last week, will increase production of aluminum alloy products for the automotive, medical, electrical and other industries, company spokesman David Bowman said.

It also will use about half the natural gas as similar furnaces, including one at the plant that will be used much less now. The company recently gained new customers and developed new products, leading to the need for the furnace, Bowman said.

The company is applying to the state for a 12-year, 50 percent tax abatement, which the Village Council approved. Cascade Die also hopes for utility company credits for the fuel savings.
