AP quoted an industry report says China imports of foreign-model cars nearly doubled last year with Japanese and German models most in favor among buyers looking to upgrade their vehicles.
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported recently that car imports jumped 93% last year from the year before to 813,600 vehicles. It said off-road and sport utility vehicles took the largest share of imports.
The report said that exports of vehicles which had lagged following the global financial crisis rose 40% from the year before.
