CN - Magna Opens New Engineering Center in Shenyang

Magna International Inc., announced yesterday that its Magna Steyr operating unit continues to strengthen its worldwide network of engineering services by opening a new engineering center located in the Tiexi District of Shenyang, China.

Magna Steyr, represented by Karl-Friedrich Stracke, President Fahrzeugtechnik & Engineering of Magna Steyr, was joined today in an opening ceremony by government officials.

At full capacity, the new 1,050 square-meter Shenyang engineering center will accommodate more than 100 engineers. With this new location, Magna Steyr is able to assist automakers’ vehicle engineering projects with speed and efficiency.

Karl-Friedrich Stracke commented: “This new engineering center demonstrates the execution of our global growth strategy and is an important step to position Magna Steyr for further expansion with customers located in the northern part of China.”

Magna Steyr began its operations in China in 2004. In addition to today’s announcement, Magna Steyr’s footprint in China includes engineering locations in Shanghai, Wuhan and Changchun. With nearly 500 employees, Magna Steyr is currently one of the leading automotive engineering service suppliers in the China market.  Magna Steyr also has a plant in Changchun producing fuel tanks.
