Local media in Chongqing report that construction of Wencan Die Casting's new facility is already 80% complete. The state-of-the-art plant is expected to be completed by April 2025 and will feature two 12,000-ton Giga Presses, likely supplied by LK Machinery. Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, aiming to provide Wencan’s customers with cutting-edge lightweight solutions in the Gigacasting sector.
Wencan is a seasoned player in Gigacasting and has extensive experience collaborating with the former Huawei brand, AITO. At the Seres factory, Wencan operates 9,000-ton Giga Presses to manufacture the Rear Underbody (RUB) of the AITO M9.
Another Tier-1 supplier, Guangdong HongTu (GHT), is also active in Gigacasting and already operates a 12,000-ton Giga Press for the production of the RUB of the Xpeng X9. Additionally, GHT plans to begin manufacturing battery trays for Honda in the first half of 2024—also utilizing a 12,000-ton Giga Press.
