DN Solutions, the third-largest CNC machine tool manufacturer globally and Korea’s leading machine tool company, hosted the 15th DN Solutions International Machine Tool Fair (DIMF) from April 2–5, 2025. Held biennially, the event offers exclusive insight into DN Solutions’ most important machines, integrated solutions, and innovations. This year’s highlight: the unveiling of the new DLX Series, marking the company’s official entry into the industrial laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) market.

Themed “Platform for Automation Solutions in All Machining Processes,” the 15th edition of DIMF attracted over 5,000 visitors, including more than 1,000 international partners and customers. The exhibition showcased automation systems, intelligent software, metal additive manufacturing (AM) systems, and over 50 next-generation machines, including upgraded versions of the DVF (5-axis machining center), DNM (machining center), and DNX (multi-tasking machine) series. A major innovation was the launch of the DLX series, enabling dramatically reduced time-to-market, cost savings through part integration, and design possibilities once deemed impossible—from complex geometries to internal cooling channels and highly customized parts.

High-Precision Additive Metal Manufacturing Systems

The DLX Series marks DN Solutions’ first industrial-grade LPBF metal 3D printer.
The flagship DLX 450, demonstrated live at the event, produces complex parts up to 450 × 450 × 450 mm from weldable metals such as aluminum, steel, Inconel, and titanium.

The system supports single to quad-laser configurations (500W / 1000W), layer thicknesses from 30–90 μm, and build rates starting at 20 cm³/hour. It includes a permanent filter system for inert gas (argon or nitrogen), an unpacking station for powder reuse, and an optional automatic build module changer for minimal downtime.

A Complete Additive Manufacturing Platform

The DLX Series features DN Solutions’ proprietary AM Software Suite, supporting a complete end-to-end workflow:

  • Identify AM-suitable parts

  • Calculate part-specific manufacturing costs

  • Prepare build data

  • Optimize support structures to reduce material waste and post-processing

  • Simulate and compensate for part deformation

  • Adapt existing process parameters or quickly configure new ones for novel materials

This integrated approach ensures high precision, repeatability, and ease of adoption for customers entering or expanding their metal AM capabilities.

Global Rollout and Proven Performance

To validate its technology, DN Solutions redesigned the spindle cylinder front cap of its multitasking machine using Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM). The result: a 20% performance increase, thanks to functionally optimized internal media channels and simplified assembly through part integration.

DN Solutions also announced the opening of an Additive Manufacturing Solution Center (ASC) in Germany. Additional centers are planned for South Korea and the United States. These will offer application engineering, consulting, training, ramp-up support, and AM service.

“Metal additive manufacturing offers tremendous potential,” says Wonjong Kim, CEO of DN Solutions. “It enables the production of complex geometries and lightweight structures that are unattainable with conventional machining. By 2030, we aim to fully leverage the synergies between additive and subtractive technologies.”

Automation and Software Innovations

DN Solutions also showcased the use of AI and digital twin technologies at DIMF 2025. Its automation systems are addressing key industry challenges such as labor shortages and rising costs. By automating material supply and process transfers, DN Solutions minimizes human intervention and enables machines to operate continuously—even during nights and holidays.

The company leads in automation with pallet pool systems, bar feeders, gantry loaders, and automatic part changers.

Additionally, DN Solutions provides advanced software solutions tailored to customer needs. The DN Production Management System (DPMS) assists operators with part registration, production planning, machining sequence management, tool condition prediction, AMR activity monitoring, and system performance tracking. The AI Remote Monitoring System offers real-time machine monitoring to ensure operational stability and efficiency. The Customized User-Friendly Flexible Operating System (CUFOS) features a smartphone-style interface, focusing on ease of use and adaptability.

“Over the past five decades, DN Solutions has delivered more than 290,000 machine tools worldwide,” adds CEO Wonjong Kim. “This trust motivates us to go beyond traditional machines and offer complete solutions that enhance the entire manufacturing process through automation and additive technologies.”
