"Econnect Germany" named Flagship Project

The multi-institutional  "econnect Germany" initiative has been named a collaborative flagship project by Germany's Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi). Thus, as part of an initiative to support interdisciplinary research in the field of Information and Communications Technology in Electric Mobility, it now receives funding from the BMWi. Under the coordination of the Chair of Information Systems and  Database Technology, headed by Professor Matthias Jarke, six RWTH institutes participate in the project. The decision highlights the outstanding quality of interdisciplinary research undertaken at the RWTH Department of Computer Science.

  On June 20, 2012, at the e2day(s) conference in Aachen, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) announced that the "Econnect Germany" initiative has been named a flagship project in the "Information and Communications Technology in Electric Mobility" section and thus is eligible for funding from the Ministry.
 
Econnect Germany conducts research and development activities in the field of sustainable mobility concepts within the communal area (e.g. municipal utilties). Special emphasis is placed on the intelligent integration of energy and transportation systems through information and communications technology.

The goal of econnect Germany (de) is to secure the future viability of electric mobility in Germany. The initiative has a budget of 2.7 million Euros over a period of two and a half years. Under the coordination of the Chair of Information Systems and  Database Technology, headed by Professor Matthias Jarke, six RWTH institutes participate in the project.
