Elkem is presenting its latest application ElekSil ™ for electrical steel applications at the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo Europe 2019 in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo Europe provides an opportunity to source the latest manufacturing solutions along the H/EV supply chain including electrical powertrains and components, battery management systems, materials and equipment. It provides an excellent stage for Elkem to present its most recent innovation ElekSil ™ for electrical steel manufacturers.
Electrical steel is used to produce magnetic cores for motors, generators and transformers. The demand for such steel is increasing in all regions, driven by power generation growth, increasing electrification and strong focus on reducing CO2 emissions.

The ElekSil ™ product range consists of ferrosilicon alloys containing various levels of Silicon, Aluminum and Manganese. Low levels of Titanium, Carbon and other detrimental trace elements can be achieved in the steel by using ElekSil™ solutions. Alloys containing Aluminum and / or Manganese can help reach even lower carbon levels in the steel than with separate additions of Aluminum and Manganese.
