ES - Barcelona Hosts Largest Euro PM Congress Ever

Reading time: min

This year’s Euro PM Congress was held in October in the vibrant Catalonian metropolis Barcelona. Organized and hosted by the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA), the meeting drew nearly 900 delegates from almost 50 countries in all regions of the world, including the Far East, Africa and the Americas.

That global appeal made Euro PM2011 in Spain the all-time most heavily attended edition of the congress. In addition, the more than 250 oral and poster presentations and a sellout exhibition of 90 stands mounted by companies from all parts of the PM supply chain made this year’s Euro PM the largest one the EPMA has ever organized.

During the plenary session of the congress, EPMA president Ingo Cremer presented the EPMA Distinguished Service Awards for 2011 to Dr. Olle Grinder of PM Technology AB in Sweden and Prof. Francisco Castro from CEIT in San Sebastián, Spain.

Barcelona proved a popular location for the dynamic and productive event. After the meeting, EPMA executive director Jonathan Wroe extended thanks to the Spanish chapter of EPMA and the Autonomous Government of Catalonia.

A full social programme included the Welcome Reception and a special EPMA members VIP reception, as well as the traditional Gala Dinner. The dinner was held at the historic Llotia de Mar in the heart of the city and provided a suitable finale to the record-setting Euro PM congress.

Euro PM2012 will be held September 17–19, 2012, in Basel, Switzerland.
