Clemens Küpper: Governmental limitation of natural gas prices in the power supply is possible - planning security for energy supply demanded

At the Future Day of the Foundry Industry 2022, those responsible at the BDG present the difficult challenges for foundries and call for quick decisions by politicians.

In Germany, about 70,000 people are employed in the foundry industry.

Cast products are relevant to all areas of life.

Max Schumacher (BDG Managing Director): Foundries represent 1% of the economic power in Germany, but 99% of the others cannot live without castings and this also applies to many products that we need for the success of decarbonisation, in wind power, photovoltaics, e-mobility etc.

With the current energy price increases of up to 1,500%, it is a matter of competitiveness and the survival of the companies.

BDG President Dipl.-Ing./Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Clemens Küpper, a man of practical experience, calls for an energy price cap - now! in a discussion with Stefan Wenzel, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen.

In the panel discussion with the State Secretary, the participants Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Fehlbier and Dr.-Ing. Ludmilla Lomina also support the above demands and emphasise the immense efforts and investments that industry and research are already making for decarbonisation.
