After completing his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Andhra University in Vishakhapatnam, India, the young Indian was drawn to the wider world. He wanted to further develop his areas of interest in design, production and quality assurance and enrolled at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg for a master’s degree in Metalic materials technology.

With ambition and commitment, he is now about to graduate and will soon finish his internship at Trompetter Guss in Chemnitz. We became aware of him because, in addition to his work as an engineer, he is also quite a communicator and invited him for an interview.

FP: Anjani, you are about to finish your master's degree at the TU Freiberg and are finishing your internship at Trompetter Guss in Chemnitz. What were your motivations for coming to Germany and what opportunities did you find in Freiberg?

Response: As my motivation to come to Germany, the way research opportunities and the education system and teaching technics while in class and studies. As the most interested part was my bachelor’s studies, we have a subject in the 3rd year as the Materials Technology regarding the melting and microstructure, production, and manufacturing technics. After done an internship in Steel manufacturing company in India at Foundry department as the sand and the Moulds department. After working how the Castings and Moulding sectors and plays a key role in the Automotive and in the real life. After the bachelors, I started working as a Engineer for 6 months in the field of Manufacturing the engine valves. Later, to do the Masters in the fields of metals. Especially in the Manufacturing field.

As, I started my masters in Freiberg, confidence on myself to do anything in the future of life, and the way of Teaching Professors especially the department from Foundry, the professors Dr. Wolf & Dr. Claudia Dommaschk. Helps a lot to the students. They helped me a lot to get into an Internship and Thesis in the company.

FP: What was your focus in your advanced education, what experiences were you able to gain, and how does life and work and study in India differ from Germany?

Response: As the advanced education gives the in-depth knowledge in education and the course, and I chose to the masters in the in Materials. Especially in product development as a manufacturing, production things. That is why I got an more interest and needs a practical experience in the foundry, which turns a perfect engineer in the department of foundry. In Indian Bachelors studies will get a more Theoretical knowledge in the studies.

But in Germany more into the Practical knowledge and research things, can see and work directly in the workplace. Most of the time is research base and practical knowledge gets from the Professors, easily interact with the professors. Because, of the less students in the class. And the proficiency and accuracy in work.

FP: As a Generation Y engineer, how do you see the future of the foundry industry and how do you think our working world will change, how will we deal with resources and develop material, design and production?

Response: As in the olden days and now there is an so much of new features and technology improved day by day, as takes into an any industry. Especially, the Manufacturing industries like Steel and Iron industries plays a key role in the future as the manufacturing the sound products. As a standard material is important to build on Earth, with an alloys and minerals get from the earth. As an example, steel can recycle completely, these metals are playing a key role in daily life. So, the foundry process technology is important that how to utilize it.

As now will increase the advance technology like automation and it would decrease the risks of human life from the pollutants and gases release from the industry. Life importance will be increases and production of green steel is important. Utilization of energy and utilization of internal heat process.

Foundry should be free from environmental benefits (pollutants). Using the less electricity and coal in production. Using less materials and give high strengths and alloying elements. By using further technology like simulations like designs, which the accuracy in the field of less scrap, good quality and High precision rate.

FP: what about your personal future, are there already concrete plans?

Response: nearly after 20 years, I would like to build an own company, which can make a good production and manufacturing like Foundry plant. Which produce a good production and casting. So, I want to learn the things of good precision industry can gain a good knowledge for the Better Future to reach the goals.
