The VDI Conference "Maintenance of Wind Turbines" on May 08 and 09, 2012 in Hamburg, Germany, addresses the subject of efficient servicing concepts

Wind-powered turbines are approaching a ripe old age. As is true for all technical facilities and intenance plan assures high operational equipment, an anticipatory servicing and mafunctionality and minimizes future damage and defects. It is recognized today that the industry sector specialized in servicing wind-powered turbines will occupy an important position in the future marketplace.

For this reason, the VDI Wissensforum has dedicated an entire conference to address this important topic. The specialized forum "Maintenance of Wind Turbines" on May 08 and 09, 2012 in Hamburg, Germany, will provide a slew of valuable information regarding promising maintenance concepts, as well as projections of possible cost and risks involved. Technical requirements, legal issues, the formulation of contracts and questions dealing with human resources are all topics that are dealt with during the conference. A further discussion point is the cause and effect of significant mechanical defects on wind turbines.

Many prominent experts will attend the conference. Amongst them are representatives of Acciona Energy, Availon, Deutsche Windtechnik AG, GE Renewable Energy and Vestas Offshore. The VDI Conference will be led by Professor Andreas Reuter, CEO and head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind-Powered Energy and Energy Systems Technology (IWES).
