The first price in the category „Best Substitution of another Production Process” wins GF Automotive with a console for a truck cabin suspension at the Newcast Award 2015. The expert jury rewarded the iron sand casted component from GF Automotive, Singen (DE).
The prize was rewarded on June 17th 2015 by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, Bundesverband der Deutschen Gießerei-Industrie (BDG) and Verein Deutscher Gießereifachleute e.V. (VDG) during the Newcast / GIFA, Düsseldorf. The jury rewarded the most innovative and outstanding casting products of the industry.
The award winning product saves 13% weight compared to its iron forged predecessor. Furthermore, the product provides cost savings due to its significant benefits regarding functional integration and assembly simplification. The product is a perfect example for showing the advantages and high flexibility of castings compared to other manufacturing processes.
The prize was awarded to Dr. Martin Stehle, Sales Director of GF in Singen: “We really appreciate this award. Through our teamwork we were able to show, that products like this are the future of castings. The deep cooperation with the customer, our strong focus on the target and our competences in development and production will lead to new segments and product groups in iron castings.”
