The British company Grainger & Worrall, a leading global specialist in complex aluminium sand casting solutions, has been awarded the King's Award for Enterprise in Innovation. This is the fourth time the company has received one of the UK's highest business awards (formerly the Queen's Award).

The company, based in Bridgnorth (Shropshire), England, with 525 employees, was recognised for its groundbreaking developments in lightweight structures for electric vehicles. Particularly noteworthy is the development of prototype gigacastings, which can be produced quickly and reproducibly and have similar properties to die-cast parts in series production. This allows customers to test their vehicle concepts before investing in expensive production facilities.

CEO Duncan Eldridge emphasised that this award reflects the innovative strength and technical expertise of his team. He said that the development of gigacasting is not only a response to industry trends, but also a contribution to sustainability. Innovation is a key growth driver for the company, both in the United Kingdom and in international markets.

Grainger & Worrall has been a benchmark for high-performance cast components for engines and transmissions for decades and has successfully expanded its portfolio to include applications in e-mobility, defence, shipping and infrastructure. Following a management buyout in 2023, the company is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy and is increasingly winning new customers from technology-intensive industries.

Winning the King's Award underscores Grainger & Worrall's commitment to establishing cutting-edge technology developed in Shropshire worldwide – especially with a view to sustainable manufacturing in the future.
