Two self-propelled jack-up vessels purpose-built for installing offshore wind turbines have made Great Yarmouth's EastPort UK their home port.
Gorleston-based Seajacks, owned by Riverstone Holdings, an energy and power-focused private equity firm which manages a large renewable and energy fund, believes that the outer harbour at Great Yarmouth's Port is perfectly placed to facilitate the most recent offshore wind farm developments in Round 3.
Seajacks is planning to build a new office/warehouse complex close to the Port's recently completed £80m multi-purpose outer harbour to support its operations; currently focused on Walney offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea and, Greater Gabbard off the Suffolk coast.
The multi-purpose outer harbour, opened in January 2010 and dredged to 10 m, has been specially constructed to accommodate a large range of vessels, from those involved in energy decommissioning and commissioning activities, to freight ferries, trade car carriers and short sea/regional container ships.
