With the plant in Kechnec, Slovakia, Handtmann is currently building the most modern foundry in Europe. "We are setting new standards in sustainability here," explains company CEO Thomas Handtmann. "For example, not only by increasing energy efficiency and reducing gas consumption and thus emissions, but also by halving the amount of hazardous substances used in production. In addition, the new plant will be 100 per cent process wastewater-free."
Focus on the environment
"We are proud that our efforts to make the new plant 'green' have now even been rewarded with an award," says a delighted Thomas Handtmann. Together with Polestar and Volkswagen AG, the Biberach-based company was nominated for the top three places in the "Operations" category by the expert jury in mid-April and has now been chosen as the winner in the final round.
