Holland Township - Fire destroys Holland Twp. metal casting facility

A fire destroyed a local metal casting facility on Friday evening.

The facility,  Holland Alloys, located on 136th Avenue, between Quincy and New Holland streets in Holland Township supplies castings for a variety of industries, its website read.

Holland Township Fire Chief Jim Kohsel said the fire call came in around 6:24 p.m. Friday as smoke started billowing out of the rear of the facility.

Kohsel said cardboard, wood and plastic inside the building caused the fire to spread very quickly.

No was reported injured at the scene.

All three Holland Township stations responded. Park Township, Port Sheldon Township and Zeeland City also assisted at the scene. The last units cleared the area around 1:50 a.m., Kohsel said.

The fire is under investigation.
