From January 13 to 26, 2014, the COBO Center, Detroit, Michigan, will be hosting the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), where on a space of almost 140 m², room B 353, Germany's KSPG is exhibiting. This firsttier auto industry supplier has subsidiaries in the USA and Mexico and will be displaying systems for cars, light and medium-duty commercial vehicles. Also being shown are components for efficient fuel and emission reduction such as steel pistons, exhaust-gas recirculation systems, and high-duty plain bearings. All these components play an important role when it comes to "clean diesels." KSPG’s dual-use components are likewise of growing significance for gasdriven systems.

At a time in which increasing emphasis is being placed on fuel savings, variable valve train systems have a pivotal function in the charge cycle of I.C. engines. In March 2011, KSPG acquired the UniValve system and since then has further developed state-of-the art techniques for naturally aspirated and turbocharged gasoline engines. These techniques are presently being engineered for series production. In order to make the benefits of variable valve control available also to diesel engines, commercial vehicle engines and, most especially, natural-gas powered units, KSPG is presently working on its FlexValve control system which will be shown alongside UniValve.

For the new, high-performance generation of diesels, KSPG is exhibiting components for the exhaust gas system, steel pistons, and ultramodern high-duty plain bearings. Also being displayed are oil, coolant and vacuum pumps addressing growing cooling requirements and stiffer challenges posed by today’s generations of engines. Pierburg Pump Technology US LLC in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is responsible for marketing and engineering these pumps; production for the American market is at Pierburg Pump Technology México SA de CV in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico.

KSPG AG is the parent and flagship company of the Automotive sector of the Rheinmetall Group, Germany. Sales in 2012 totaled €2.4 billion; approximately 11 percent was generated with customers in North America. For over a century, this first-tier auto-industry supplier has been operating on international markets; it has a worldwide workforce of about 12,000, of which some 1,700 in the USA and Mexico. Other locations are in Europe, Brazil, Japan, India, and China.
