The Rheinische Mittelstandsbeteiligung (RMB) company is taking over the Kurtz Eisenguss GmbH & Co. KG traditional foundry in Hasloch as per 1 October 2018.
Up to now, Kurtz Eisenguss GmbH & Co. KG has been a part of the Kurtz Ersa Group, but has increasingly lost strategic importance in the past few years. The share of the total turnover of Kurtz Ersa was only 6% most recently.
Some years ago, there was a repeated considerable investment in order to be competitive on the contested market for cast-iron parts and to achieve a significant market share in the weight class with a unit weight of up to 10 tons. The technical equipment in the smart foundry also had worldwide recognition amongst the experts as a shining example of Industrie 4.0. Turnover was also increased, but the ambitious growth objectives were not achieved. This is why there was a purposeful search for a strategic investor who has sufficient competence and market presence for a long-term securing of the foundry with its 90 jobs in Hasloch.
The new company will have the name of Eisenguss Hasloch Smart Foundry GmbH in future.
With the purchase of the 166-year-old iron foundry and the iron foundries of Hulvershorn GmbH & Co. KG and SHW High Precision Casting Technology GmbH already in their possession, this new association of foundries covers more or less the entire weight and size range in all possible standard and special materials such as ADI, chrome and ingot hard moulding. The concentration of competence in material and foundry technique covers practically all requirements for cast parts from 5 kg to 120 tons and fulfils the required claims made of precision and dimensional stability.
The aluminium die casting company Eisenmann Druckguss GmbH is also part of the investor's portfolio.
At a meeting of the workforce on 4 October 2018, Kurtz Ersa group boss Rainer Kurtz thanked the employees, some of whom has been working there for many years and all of whom are able to keep their jobs. With a cordial "Good luck!", Kurtz wished them and the new managing stockholder Rainer J. Langnickel a good start, permanently full order books and a successful future at the Hasloch location.
The parties have agreed secrecy about the commercial conditions of the take-over. The premises, which are more than 200,000 square metres in area, and all the buildings remain in possession of the Kurtz Ersa Group. On the property, the industrial park in the southern section and the historical Hammerschmiede and the Kurtz Ersa Hammer Museum will remain accessible to the public as has been the case up to now.
