KZ - Tau-Ken Samruk and CITIC Group to build a mini-mill steel producer in Kazakhstan

Mining Company "Tau-Ken Samruk" JSC (Kazakhstan) and the corporation CITIC Group (China) are considering the possibility of establishing a joint steel plant in Kazakhstan. It is reported by news agency "Novosti-Kazakhstan".

According to plans, the new Steel Mill will be smelt by 1.2 million tons of steel per year. The production will be organized on the basis of the Kazakh iron ore deposits.

"The project provides for the creation of new industries of mining, smelting, metallurgy and mechanical engineering. The project is expected to use the experience of leading companies in the world in terms of efficient processing of titanium-magnetite ores, production of direct reduced iron and produce high-quality and special steel grades with the use of innovative technologies ", - said the agency.
