Luxembourg - ArcelorMittal to showcase wind energy offer

Reading time: min

Europe's leading wind energy industry event is being held in Vienna, Austria from 4 to 7 February 2013, when ArcelorMittal will showcase its products and services for the industry. European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) 2013 will focus on providing wind energy players with opportunities to find real growth, particularly in emerging wind energy markets. Wind turbines are already generating more than 240 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy globally each year.

As the world’s leading supplier of steel to the global wind energy industry, ArcelorMittal will showcase its extensive range of products and services such as quarto plate steel. Around 85% of all wind turbines are built with quarto plate steel and ArcelorMittal’s Flat Carbon Europe division is a highly respected supplier of this product. ArcelorMittal Asturias in Gijón, Spain has supplied quarto plate for more than 3000 wind towers since 2005.

As steel can be used to create more than 80% of the components required to build a wind turbine, ArcelorMittal is continuously investing in research and development of innovative steel grades for the wind energy industry.

The global research and development (R&D) team includes more than 1 300 world-class researchers located in 11 laboratories around the world. Their experience and knowledge of steel and the wind power industry enables ArcelorMittal to support customers so they can overcome the challenges they face.

The company’s wind energy experts will be available at EWEA to discuss the future of wind energy and its growth markets as well as to answer technical questions – whether they relate to wind turbine towers, foundations, electrical steels, manufacturing, logistics or design. ArcelorMittal Flat Carbon Europe is co-exhibiting at EWEA with the Walloon Agency for Export and Foreign Investment (AWEX) and partner organisations such as the Center for Research in Metallurgy (CRM). You can visit the ArcelorMittal team in Vienna at stand B-63 from 4 to 7 February 2013.
