Every two years the heart of metal working beats at AMB in Stuttgart and therefore turns Baden-Württemberg into an international meeting point for the industry. Like “the länd campaign” says, Baden-Württemberg is not just the real land of unlimited opportunities. It is primarily the land of unlimited opportunities in the metal working and processing industry, and therefore “The Länd of Metalworking", said Sebastian Schmid, Vice President of Messe Stuttgart, during the preview for AMB 2024 at the Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport on 10 June 2024. Schmid was extremely satisfied with the high number of exhibitors who have already registered for this year's International Exhibition for Metal Working. "With over 1,200 exhibitors from 30 countries, AMB 2024 is booked up solid. This number will increase once again due to subsequent registrations by co-exhibitors." Visitors of AMB can therefore look forward to a wide range of exhibitors including globally leading manufacturers of cutting machine tools and precision tools, efficient medium-sized companies and innovative start-ups from the region.

Communication between machines as a key topic

The focal points of AMB 2024 will also again be the latest developments in machine tools, production systems, control and drive systems, automation solutions and the associated measuring and test systems. Regarding the topic of Industry 4.0, whose importance in the metal working industry has again increased enormously, interested visitors will be able to obtain information on intelligent networks, automation solutions, CAD/CAM applications, collaborative robotics and AI. There will be a separate special show of the VDW and VDMA backed umati (universal machine technology interface) initiative relating to the distribution and use of open interface standards based on OPC UA. This special show will demonstrate how machines and systems can communicate with each other or can be integrated in user-specific IT ecosystems. Machine interaction will also be presented in the Smart Factory, a fully automated process chain at the Entrance East. Several manufacturers will demonstrate how systems interact via interfaces. Visitors to AMB will have the opportunity on the stand to use an ordering software to start the production of a multi-tool aluminium cube which will be created live during the exhibition. As soon as the workpiece is finished, the person who triggered the order will be informed that his/her multi-tool is ready to be collected.

Extensive networking programme and new Award

Not only are machines networked at AMB, but that also applies traditionally to people. This will be possible thanks to several offerings in this year's accompanying programme. For example, the International Gallery in the Oskar Lapp Halle (Hall 6) will provide exhibition visitors and teams from the exhibitors with a platform to forge contacts with leading trade associations on the international market. Messe Stuttgart is also organising country-specific Happy Hours during AMB so that people can network.

In the trade fair center park, it will be possible to round off the day with afterwork snacks and drinks and hold discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. The stainless-steel smoker "Big Louis" will not only be a highlight for barbecue enthusiasts. In 2015, it entered the Guinness Book of Records as the largest smoker of its kind. The exhibition partner Ludwig Grill, which produced the gigantic device in Baden-Württemberg, will be available in the trade fair center park to answer questions on how it was manufactured.

The AMB Award will celebrate its première at AMB 2024. The Award will be presented for outstanding new and further developments in different product categories that represent significant value-added for the industry. The submitted exhibits will be judged on the basis of various criteria by a first-rate neutral jury with members equally represented by trade associations and science.

Convenient and efficient visit to the exhibition with the AMB app

Another innovation for AMB 2024, i.e. the AMB app, will help to make visit planning even easier and provide guidance on the trade fair grounds and in the exhibition halls. A visit to the exhibition can be prepared quickly and easily with the app. It not only contains all the important information about AMB along with the accompanying programme, talks and workshops, it also has a favourite function with which an individual exhibitor list can be generated for an efficient day at the exhibition. An interactive hall plan ensures that users always have an overview. The AMB app for iOS and Android is available for downloading.
