After years of impressive growth rates, the Russian metallurgy industry cannot escape the effects of the slowdown in the global economy. Despite this, the need for upgrades in the country remains tremendous and interest in innovative technologies is unwavering. Even though many investments will have to be put on ice for the moment, the market’s long-term prospects are considered excellent.

These prospects are what the exhibitors at the trade fair Metallurgy-Litmash, Tube Russia, Aluminium/Non-Ferrous 2009 will be counting on when the event’s doors open from 12 to 15 May at ZAO Expocentre in Krasnaya Presnya, Moscow. Despite the difficult economic conditions, the trade fair for the metallurgy and pipe industries will boast a turnout on a similar scale to that of 2008. Overall, the showcase will be spread across just under 4,000 square metres of net exhibition space. Featuring almost 300 companies from 27 countries, the trade show will offer a comprehensive overview of the sector in Halls 7-3 to 7-6. Messe Düsseldorf GmbH together with Messe Düsseldorf Moscow OOO and their Russian partner Metalexpo have successfully signed on official national participations by Austria, China, Germany, Italy and the UK. Businesses from the host nation Russia will also be joined in the spotlight by individual companies from Canada, Denmark, France, Korea, Taiwan and Turkey, among others. Metallurgy-Litmash, Tube Russia and Aluminium/Non-Ferrous have the backing of associations such as the International Tube Association (ITA) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

The concurrent staging of the leading event for the Russian wire and cable industry, wire Russia 2009, promises attractive synergy effects for exhibitors and visitors. More than 200 exhibitors from 29 countries will showcase their products on a further exhibition space of some 4,000 square metres at the fairgrounds in Krasnaya Presnya. In line with tradition, German companies step out under the umbrella of an official joint participation. Other national pavilions will include Austria, China, France, Italy, Taiwan, the UK and USA.

wire Russia 2009 is organised by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and its subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf Moscow OOO in cooperation with the All Russian Cable Scientific Research and Development Institute (VNIIKP). Numerous Russian and international trade associations including the International Wire & Cable Exhibitors Association (IWCEA), International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA), Italian Wire Machinery Manufacturers Association (ACIMAF), Wire and Cable Industry Suppliers Association (WCISA) and the China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation (CMEC) support the trade fair.
