Metalworking China: Firms team up to tap growth market

  • German pavilion offers favorable conditions for exhibitors at China-based event
  • Exhibition organizers anticipate more exhibitors and stronger attendance

Shanghai/Hannover. China is hungry for machine tools from Germany. Almost every third machine imported by China is made by a German manufacturer. A German group pavilion at the Metal Working and CNC Machine Tool China Show 2010 (MWCS) represents an ideal opportunity to enter the Chinese market. This exhibition counts as one of the main events for machine tools, metal processing and metal working, and is produced by Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, the Chinese subsidiary of Hannover-based Deutsche Messe, plus the Shanghai World Expo Group (SWEG). The exhibition takes place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The organizers are anticipating more than 500 exhibitors and 110,000 visitors.

“China is recovering the quickest from the global economic crisis – and the metalworking industry is benefiting the most from this development. Of all the world’s economic regions, China displays the greatest dynamism and growth opportunities,” declared Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Managing Board Member at Deutsche Messe. “The MWCS special display reflects one of the main aspects of the upswing. The German pavilion makes it possible to benefit from this growth at a reasonable expense,” commented Dr. Gruchow.

German enterprises can take advantage of the beneficial conditions to secure their spot in the group pavilion – and present themselves to visitors under the “Made in Germany” logo. Many services are included: from the complete organization of office infrastructure to German-speaking partners onsite. Staff members are also on hand to organize visits by journalists and delegations to exhibitor stands. The organizer of the group pavilion is Hannover Messe International, working on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology.

MWCS represents a key showcase in the world’s biggest sales market for machine tools. The industry is especially excited about its prospects in Shanghai in 2010, since the Chinese government has initiated a number of research and technology programs to promote the development of machine tools, guaranteeing a high level of interest. Visitors are moreover expecting an impressive showing by metalworking enterprises, which committed to appearing at the 2010 event after a successful run in 2009. The special display entitled “High-grade Machine Tool Major Projects” will make its premiere this year, featuring realistic presentations of major projects at numerous company stands.
