By the beginning of November, a good three months before the METAV 2012 opens its doors (the dates are 28 February to 3 March), 480 exhibitors from 22 different countries had meanwhile signed up. They will be occupying more than 32,000 m² of net exhibition area at the exhibition centre in Düsseldorf, already emulating the size of the last METAV.

"Companies have reversed the area downsizing practised at the previous event in response to the cyclical downturn, and are booking significantly larger stands at the METAV 2012", reports Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director at the METAV's organiser VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association). "We're particularly gratified to note that manufacturers of high-precision tools are making increased use of the METAV for showcasing their innovations. Area growth here, indeed, is running at 70 per cent", adds Schäfer.  Asian manufacturers, too, are upsizing their presence at the METAV, so as to show the flag in Germany, the biggest and currently the most stable sales market in Europe for production technology.

Market leaders in production technology from all over the world use this international trade fair for manufacturing technology and automation, so to showcase their machines, their solutions and their services, particularly for their customers in North Rhine-Westphalia, northern Germany, the Benelux countries, Scandinavia, the UK, and Eastern Europe. For trade visitors from these regions, the METAV is often the most important innovation forum. According to visitor surveys, most of them do not attend any other European event for the metalworking sector. "In addition, being held so early in the year, the METAV offers a timely and excellent opportunity for customers to plan their investment budgets  on the basis of fully up-to-date information", continues Schäfer. Moreover, trade visitors can choose from a high-calibre complementary programme on the subjects of medical technology, composites machining, efficient production, resource-efficiency, innovations in metal-cutting technology, and much, much more.

Those wishing to know who will be exhibiting at the METAV 2012, and what trade visitors can expect, should consult the provisional exhibitor listing. As of now, it is available online under www.metav.de in the "Exhibitors & Products 2012" section.

The next METAV will be held from 28 February to 3 March 2012 in Düsseldorf. In the even years, it has firmly established itself as an important technology shop window for the entire gamut of manufacturing technology and automation in Germany for manufacturers and customers from Europe. The METAV will be showcasing the entire spectrum of manufacturing technology, focusing on machine tools, production systems, high-precision tools, automated material flows, computer technology, industrial electronics and accessories. The METAV's visitor target group includes all major industrial sectors, particularly plant and machinery manufacturers, the automotive industry and its component suppliers, aerospace, the electrical engineering industry, the metalworking sector, medical technology and the craft sector. At the last METAV in 2010, around 700 exhibitors showcased their products, solutions and services on more than 32,000 m² of net exhibition area. They attracted approximately 45,000 trade visitors from 26 different countries.
