ASCOJET is a brand of the Swiss company ASCO CARBON DIOXIDE LTD and gives its name to ASCO’s dry ice cleaning technology. ASCOJET is not only a cleaning process but stands for individual and overall solutions in foundries
Cleaning of moulds is becoming increasingly important, not only to reduce costs but also to improve quality and productivity. ASCOJET dry ice blasting means moulds do not have to be disassembled thus saving enormous time in comparison with traditional sand or glass bead blasting methods. Even hot moulds can be cleaned on-line. ASCOJET dry ice blasting has a minimal effect on mould temperature allowing virtually continuous production. ASCOJET dry ice blasting is non-abrasive so the moulds are not damaged or altered in any way. This technology is therefore highly recommended for gentle and effective cleaning of moulds of any type and material.
Dry ice is 100 % solid CO2. Inside a pelletizer liquid CO2 is converted by rapid expansion into dry ice snow. This dry ice snow (-78.9°C) is pressed through a special extruder plate to make small hard pellets. These pellets are fed into the ASCOJET Dry Ice Blasting Machine and conveyed to the blasting gun by compressed air. The gun shoots the pellets at up to 300m/s onto the contaminated moulds. As the pellets hit the object, a sudden thermo-shock is produced. From the resulting kinetic energy, the release agent coating is cracked and thus removed. After impact, the dry ice pellets immediately sublimate leaving behind a clean, dry surface with no blasting media to be disposed of.
More than just a Cleaning Method
ASCO specializes in offering individual solutions for the specific needs of customers. These individual solutions can start with a single dry ice blasting machine. Further going solutions using dry ice production can increase quality and flexibility in cleaning (incl. CO2 delivery in Germany, Switerland and New Zealand). Or they can include noise control boothes, automation or customized products like especially developed blasting guns.
By choosing ASCO CARBON DIOXIDE LTD you will be choosing one of the world’s leading CO2 engineering companies as your partner – a partner with excellent know-how and with more than 10 years experience in dry ice blasting. Clients such as DaimlerChrysler, Von Roll, BMW, Honsel, Ferrari etc. confirm the good quality and reliability of ASCO products.
