New apprentices start at ZEISS in Germany

272 young people have started their vocational training at the ZEISS sites in Oberkochen, Jena, Göttingen and Wetzlar.

ZEISS welcomed 272 young people with a ceremonial start of their training: 183 of them will attend a vocational training program and 89 a dual study program. The apprentices and dual students will work at the sites in Oberkochen, Jena, Göttingen and Wetzlar.  

The 183 apprentices will be trained in various technical and commercial professions. 169 of them will begin their technical vocational training in areas such as precision optics, industrial mechanics, IT and surface coating. 

In cooperation with its partner universities, ZEISS will train 86 dual students at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Heidenheim, Mosbach, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, the Gera-Eisenach Cooperative State University and the Glauchau State Academy. 35 young adults will graduate in IT, 19 students in business administration courses, and 32 in other technical courses such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering. 

Udo Schlickenrieder, Head of Vocational Training at ZEISS, welcomed the new trainees and dual students to congratulate them: “This is one of the most important steps you have already taken, because you have a concrete idea of what you want to do in the future. I am glad that this career path is starting at ZEISS and that you have confidence in our excellent training program. It's great that you are with us.”
