New President for Vestas Central Europe

Dr. Wolfgang J. Schmitz replaces Hans Jörn Rieks as head of Vestas Central Europe

As of February 1, 2012 Dr. Schmitz will take on the position of President of Vestas Central Europe, replacing Hans Jörn Rieks, who headed the company during the strong growth period for the last eight years. Rieks is the new President of Vestas Offshore.

Dr. Schmitz is a 46-year old German who most recently worked at Vestas headquarters in Denmark, where he was responsible for global quality.

For the last 15 years, Dr. Schmitz has worked successfully in executive positions and general management in multinational companies in the energy, automotive and transport sector, as well as in the metal and mining industries in Europe and abroad. He brings an extensive experience on customer focus, cost, safety, and process improvements.

Schmitz studied Business and Engineering in St. Gallen and Aachen.
