Traditionally, in the time leading to the EUROGUSS, NürnbergMesse organizes a press conference for colleagues of the trade press to demonstrate the range and possibilities for the use of die-castings, while at the same time explaining the current state of the industry and the most important challenges it faces. This year’s press tour, held in Hamburg, Germany included visits to world industry leaders Airbus and Dräger.
Dräger is a leading international company in the fields of medical and safety technology, developing advanced technical devices and solutions for use in clinical, industrial, civic, and mining applications. Dräger’s products, especially those used in the medical field, are life-saving and based on high-tech diecasting basic products. Some of the products on display during the tour included the “Babyleo” incubator for premature infants, an anesthesia apparatus, and cast parts for operating lamps.
Airbus is a well-known international pioneer in the aerospace industry. When they began building aircraft, they set a target of around 800 machines. During the tour, participants were able to view the assembly of the nearly 8,000th aircraft at the Airbus facility, a convincing sign of success. To build and equip modern aircraft, using die castings made of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium, an ever-increasing part of development are parts made using additive manufacturing, as Mr. Peter Sander informed the visitors. Airbus alone has invested 10M Euros in the development of 3D-printing in 2017.
German die-casting industry looks optimistically toward the future
According to the VDD, in 2016 and 2017 German pressure die-casting foundries increased their sales and production in many areas. In the first half of 2017, aluminum pressure die-casting grew by 7.1% to 338,000 tons, zinc by 10.7% to 32,000 tons, and magnesium die casting by 1.5% to 9,100 ton. 70% of the products are sold in the automotive sector, while 30% of the die-cast production is spread over a variety of different customer sectors.
European machine manufacturers end 2016 with a high market share
According to CEMAFON (The European Foundry Equipment Suppliers Association), the value of the exported machinery of the CEMAFON countries rose from 377 million euro in 2015 to 400 million last year. This represents an increase of 7% in the market share of CEMAFON die-casting machines and gravity-casting machines. It is thus the world's largest exporter for such machines, followed by Japan, China, Switzerland and Germany.
EUROGUSS 2018
The leading trade fair for the entire die-cast value-added chain will take place in Nuremberg from January 16th – 18th, 2018. With over 600 exhibitors, of which more than 50% international exhibitors from 35 different countries, the EUROGUSS 2018 is fully booked!
The organizers expect significantly more than 12,000 trade visitors from all potential buyers' markets (automotive, machinery and plant construction, electrical engineering, energy and medical engineering die-casting, tool and mold-making), as well as scientists and service providers.
The EUROGUSS in Nuremberg is supported by the positioning of the product family worldwide. In July of 2018, the ever-successful CHINA DIECASTING will take place again in Shanghai. NürnbergMesse Group will also participate in an exhibitor pavilion at the Fundiexpo in Guadalajara, Mexico in October for the first time, and in December 2018, the ALUCAST will be held in Delhi, India.
Highlights during the EUROGUSS 2018 include the simultaneous German Diecasting Days, competitions for aluminum, zinc and magnesium die-castings, VDI workshops on hybrid casting, simulation and IT security, and the Pavilion of Surface Technology.
