NL - Ecore Group enters final stage of acquiring majority share of Schrott Wetzel

The Ecore Group, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, has entered the final stage of its acquisition of a 70%share in Schrott-Wetzel, a scrap metal recycling company based in Mannheim, Germany.

In a release, Ecore says the deal will boost its size to become one of the largest scrap metal recyclers in Europe.

The Schrott Wetzel Group is the fifth largest recycling company in Germany. The company focuses on ferrous scrap, handling around 900,000 tonnes of scrap metal per year. The company operates 13 sites in Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Belgium.

The release notes that when Ecore Group completes the deal, it will hold a large position in Germany and France, two of the largest recycling markets in Europe. Combined, the two companies will generate around 4 million metric tons of recyclables per year and operate 82 sites in Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, India and China.
