Norilsk to negotiate further cooperation with Chinese firms

It is reported that senior management of Norilsk Nickel MMC will meet with top managers of major Chinese companies to negotiate further cooperation with the company. During the visit of the delegation from China, Mr Vladimir Strzhalkovsky general director of Norilsk Nickel MMC will meet with heads of seven major Chinese metal companies, as well as with the representatives of China's Association of Stainless Steel Producers.

On September 8th 2009 to September 10th 2009, the Chinese delegation will visit Norilsk Nickel's production sites in Norilsk Industrial Region namely Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant, Taimyrsky and Oktyabrsky Mines, Copper Plant and Talnakh Concentrator. As a major producer of nickel, Norilsk Nickel considers China as an important strategic partner. Due to the importance of China’s market to the company, a new sales office was recently opened in Shanghai. Norilsk Nickel highly appreciates China’s role in the world’s economy, in particular in the nonferrous and precious metals markets and is ready to consider joint mining and production projects in Russia, China and other countries.

Mr Vladimir Strzhalkovsky said that Norilsk Nickel's sales in China have grown substantially despite the world’s economic crisis. During the first 6 months of 2009, Norilsk Nickel supplied over 30,000 tonnes of nickel to China.
