Outotec receives a major filtration technology order from Brazil

Reading time: min

Outotec and the Brazilian mining company MMX Mineração e Metálicos S.A. have signed a contract for the filter technology delivery to the expansion of the Serra Azul iron ore processing facility in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The parties do not disclose the contract value, but deliveries of this scope are typically worth of some tens of millions of Euros.

Outotec's scope of delivery consists of 17 Outotec Larox CC 144 capillary action disc filters for filtering pelletizing feed slurries in iron ore processing. Micro porous ceramic discs replace conventional filter cloth in these advanced filters. Capillary action draws liquid through the pores, and only a small vacuum pump is required, resulting in significantly reduced energy consumption. The filters will be manufactured in Outotec's facilities in Finland and delivered in two phases.
"This is our fourth recent large scale filter order. Outotec Larox CC 144 filters are currently the largest in use in the industry and have proven their unique advantages also in iron ore beneficiation. They significantly improve the process and environmental performance of the plant", says Pertti Korhonen, CEO of Outotec.
