Fill was the star of the awards ceremony for the 16th Pegasus Economics Prize at the Brucknerhaus on June 16th in Linz. The Gurten-based family business was awarded with the special prize in gold for corporate culture. Company founder and former Official for Economic Affairs in the Provincial Government of Upper Austria, Josef Fill, was honored shortly before his 70th birthday for his life’s work.

“We greatly appreciate being awarded with the Pegasus. This prize acknowledges our company philosophy, which is based on such values as fairness, safety, and harmony”, explains Managing Director Andreas Fill. The deciding factor in awarding the prize to the Innviertel machine builder was the company’s outstanding performance in the field of corporate culture. 86 percent of employees would recommend working at Fill to a friend. They are proud of their company and appreciate the excellent working environment and social engagement of their employer.

A Philosophy Lived

The “Gurteners” convinced the Pegasus jury of the sustainable effect of their measures in the form of a 28-page special edition of the employee newsletter. The Pegasus Economics Prize pays tribute to outstanding individuals and projects that have had a particularly positive impact on the Upper Austrian economy. “The showpiece projects should be motivational and encouraging for all employers in the federal state”, emphasized laudator Member of the Provincial Government Viktor Sigl at the ceremony. The Pegasus is Fill’s second award for outstanding corporate culture in little more than six months. In November 2008, the Innviertel machine manufacturer was runner-up at the Upper Austrian Family Oscar Awards.

The second time the name “Fill” was read out at the Pegasus Awards was for company founder and former Official for Economic Affairs in the Provincial Government of Upper Austria, Josef Fill. Shortly before reaching the age of 70 on July 16th, the native South Tyrolean was awarded with a crystal Pegasus for his life’s work. The qualified mechanic went into business for himself in 1966 and developed his operation in Gurten into a successful company. For ten years, the father of three was also head of the Ried Chamber of Commerce. From 1991 to 2000, Fill was a Member of the Upper Austrian Parliament, before being promoted to the Official for Economic and Tourism Affairs in Upper Austria. In 2004, the “political father of the Geinberg Spa” in the Innviertel region retired from politics.
