Rays of recovery - Kamaz automobile plant starts work again

Itar-Tass Mr cited Oleg Afanasyev director of the company's information policy department as saying that Kamaz Automobile Plant resumed operations after a month’s holiday.

A company official said. “By decision of the company’s leadership the main assembly line of the plant was stopped on July 29th and the entire personnel of the enterprise took a vacation.”

Mr Afanasyev said “The plan for September and following months has not been specified so far, coordination with the national and foreign partners is underway. The whole volume of orders will become known on September 7. In the first six months of the year, the enterprise has produced almost 11,000 trucks which are almost 60% less than in January to June 2008.”

The largest in the Russian automobile industry Kamaz group is 11th largest world producer of heavy trucks and 8th in terms of production of diesel engines. The group unites a total of 96 enterprises employing about 50,000 personnel.
